3rd – 5th Grade

If your child is currently enrolled and attending GCDC’s after school program as a 3rd, 4th or 5th grader, NO additional application is needed. However, you will be asked to sign a new fee agreement, indicating there is NO FEE for our afterschool program. For everyone else -Yes. A JURASSIC application must be completed for each child who wishes to participate. Submitting an application does not automatically guarantee enrollment. Space is limited, and families will receive confirmation when their child's enrollment has been approved.

JURASSIC is a Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers program designed to provide academic support, enrichment, recreation, youth development and family engagement outside of regular school hours.

If your child will attend before school or for an extended day in summer, YES you need to keep your child care assistance. The 21CCLC funding does not cover before school or extended hours/weeks in summer

JURASSIC is designed as a regular, ongoing afterschool program, not occasional or drop-in care. The program operates for three hours after dismissal every day school is in session, and activities and learning experiences build throughout the program year. Consistent attendance and participation are important parts of the JURASSIC experience.

NOT during the school year - JURASSIC operates every day that school is in session (no holidays), and some weeks in summer.

The 21CCLC grant does NOT include before school care. GCDC operates a separate BEFORE SCHOOL program, which is still available at a fee at Bullock School for grades 1-5. BOWE does not have a BEFORE SCHOOL component.

Families should complete all requested information on the JURASSIC application and enrollment forms, including:

• Parent/guardian contact information
• Emergency contacts
• Authorized pickup information
• Child and Adult Care Food Program Form; Medical and allergy information
• Information necessary to safely support your child
• Some school information
• Required permissions and releases
• All required signatures

Families are responsible for notifying GCDC whenever important information changes.

We request families to share information that will help us understand and support their child. If your child has an IEP, 504 Plan, behavioral support plan, medical plan or other documented needs, please provide relevant information during the enrollment process. This allows our team to discuss your child's individual needs with you and determine what reasonable accommodation may be needed to support successful and safe participation in JURASSIC.

Families will receive confirmation from GCDC when their child's enrollment has been approved. Please do not assume your child is enrolled simply because an application was submitted. Your child should not report to JURASSIC until you have received confirmation of enrollment and a start date from GCDC.

Enrollment in JURASSIC is limited to the first 90 students at Bullock and 36 students at Bowe. If available spaces are filled, additional applicants may be placed on a waiting list in accordance with program enrollment procedures.

Successful afterschool programs depend on strong partnerships with families. JURASSIC families are expected to:

• Support regular student attendance

   

• Follow dismissal and pickup procedures

   

• Pick children up according to program requirements

   

• Keep emergency and contact information current

   

• Communicate important information about their child

   

• Follow GCDC and JURASSIC policies

   

• Participate in family engagement opportunities when possible

   

• Communicate with staff when questions or concerns arise

We want JURASSIC to be a safe, welcoming and positive community for everyone. Students are expected to:

• Participate in program activities

   

• Follow JURASSIC expectations

   

• Treat other students and staff respectfully

   

• Make safe choices

   

• Care for program materials and school property

   

• Contribute positively to their JURASSIC community

JURASSIC is operated by Glassboro Child Development Centers (GCDC) within the Glassboro Public School District buildings. We are licensed by the NJ Office of Child Care Licensing.

Complete a JURASSIC application for each child you would like to enroll and return all required enrollment information. No later than Wednesday September 30, hard copy applications will be available at each school main office, at our GCDC administrative office, and coming soon, on our website.

***IMPORTANT*** Submitting an application is a request for enrollment. Your child's space is not confirmed until you receive official enrollment confirmation and a start date from GCDC.
