Glassboro Child Development Centers has been serving Gloucester County since 1969 and was recently named Nonprofit of the Year by the Gloucester County Chamber of Commerce at its 20th Annual Community Service Awards.
Joan Dillon, Executive Director, who joined GCDC in 1988, told the crowd, “Nonprofits exist to fill gaps for the community – many of our clients are families with low income, but we are dedicated to supporting ALICE (Asset Limited Income Constrained Employed) families. These are essential workers like retail and food service, childcare workers, hospitality and health care workers with children, who work long and hard all day but are living below the NJ survivability income and for whom there are few safety nets. GCDC believes ALL families have needs. GCDC believes all children have special gifts and are deserving of the love, attention, and nurturing of a caring adult working alongside the family. GCDC operates under four Core Values: Relationships, Fun, Trust and Excellence. Our team and the families we serve are expected to live these core values through our policies, our behaviors, our quality improvement efforts and our decision-making. We serve not just children, but generations of families, as we celebrate our 55th Anniversary in Gloucester County in 2024.”
GCDC specializes in creating spaces for early care and education, before and after school, summer learning and middle school programs for over 300 children ages 6 weeks to 8th grade annually. Our programs are both affordable and high quality, appealing to all families.
