Black History Month Celebrations

Our JURASSIC and Horizon programs celebrated  Black History Month featuring music and culture. GCDC staff member, Hope Campbell and her sorority sisters of Rowan University’s Theta Mu chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated, spoke about the Divine 9, which are the historical African American sororities and fraternities. Afterwards, the ladies spoke about their organization’s purpose & promise and ended their presentation with 2 strolls, which are traditional dances specific to each Greek organization.

Later, families participated in a music bingo which included classic artists from Jazz, R&B, Motown and Hip Hop!

Our families were able to start their own patchwork quilts to take home and begin their own generational story.
