GCDC is happy to announce that we have completed the Grow NJ Kids rating process and have been awarded 4 stars! Participating child care and early learning programs are assigned a star rating based on observed quality.
Grow NJ Kids is New Jersey’s Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS) that rates the quality of child care and early learning programs. The rating system uses a scale of one to five stars, with higher ratings indicating higher quality:
- 5 stars: Meets very high-quality standards
- 4 stars: Meets high-quality standards
- 3 stars: Meets quality standards
- 2 stars: Committed to quality improvement
- 1 star: Meets state license or registration standards
“Grow NJ Kids rating system performed a robust evaluation of our early childhood program and our preschool team came out on top! We are one of only five early childhood programs in Gloucester County to achieve this high standard, and one of only two that serves infants. Since reopening after the pandemic, our preschool team has committed to excellence and rebuilding the quality indicators which seemed to take a “back seat” at many schools during those uncertain years. Many early childhood centers lost large percentages of their teams in 2020, and our preschool has a 70% staff retention rate. The resilience and persistence in our staff is what made this accomplishment possible.” said Joan Dillon, GCDC’s Executive Director. “Now the state knows what we’ve known all along!”
